The weather had not really been inviting to photograph outdoors for weeks, but on Friday, the day when I was going to shoot for the local Nordlys Design, I woke up to bright sunshine and not a cloud in the sky! When I opened my window I heard birds singing and waterdrops of melting snow dripping from the roof. It felt like the first day of Spring, and that´s a feeling that I didn’t have for 6(!) years as I´ve been skipping winter. Well, such an amazing feeling! And it was truly the perfect day to get creative and chase the light with my camera, my love and lots of beautiful clothes!
I had found Nordlys (which means Northern Lights in Norwegian) online just two days before. I cannot understand how I´ve missed it during all my different times here in Trondheim, but well, better late then never! And so I went to check out all the mindblowing clothes and jewellery, and to see the girls at Nordlys, the day after. They are such sweet and interesting souls. I told them that I am practicing shooting Bohemian Fashion, and we decided that I should come back the next day to shoot any clothes I´d like! And all this before they had even seen my photographs. Chris said; “We just feel that you have the right energy”..
When we arrived to the boutique on Friday morning, the creator of Nordlys, Ingeborg, told us that she had been singing about singing birds, loudly as she walked down the street to work, and how people had been staring at her like if she was crazy – something that we could relate to. It seems like one shouldn´t stand out at all in this world we´re living in. If you wear different clothes or do something different, or even say Hi or look a stranger in the eyes, people think you´re strange..! But I believe in everyones freedom to be them selves, and not caring to much about what others think.
We spent the day around Svartlamon, the most colourful and “free-spirited” part of town. Here people actually said “Hey” and smiled as they passed by, and when I knocked a door to ask if I could shoot outside someone’s house they smiled heartly and said “of course you can, no need to ask”.. It almost felt like I was somewhere else. Not in cold Scandinavia.
So it was a fun day! Bryan was such a good model as always, and I am really satisfied with the photos of him in Nordlys different vibrant men’s shirts. I shoot myself in three different gorgeous outfits, but unfortunately the pictures turned out completely unfocused.. You see, I use my an app on my iPhone, Canon Camera Connect, to shoot selfportraits. I can adjust the focus from the phone, but I couldn’t really see clearly on the iPhone-screen in the bright sunshine, so pretty much all the photos were useless. But it´s all good, I learnt a lot of new things by myself, like experimenting with shadows and next time I´ll make it better! 😉 I´ve already got so many ideas for future shoots for Nordlys, and I am so grateful to Ingeborg who gave me this amazing opportunity! ♥
