There is something happening inside of me when I am travelling. Like if a fire starts to burn. I kind of feel on fire. I feel everything so deeply, I take in and appreciate every little beautiful place/thing/person I meet to the fullest, and I feel full of a really powerful energy. I forget about time, I just go with the flow and, if I don’t have to (for work etc) I don’t even make plans. And wonderful things just happens to me like magic.
When I finished to work in Tromsø on Friday afternoon I got myself a really big coffee and started my little solo roadtrip with destination: Senja. A stunning island just a couple of hours south of Tromsø. I am not sure what really brought me there, I just knew it was located in the middle between Tromsø and Harstad, a town where I was working on Monday, and I thought I’d enjoy my weekend more on an island than in either cities. When I arrived it was already pitch black so you can imagine what a surprise I’ve got when I woke up to the unreal view. I stayed all by myself in a big and beautiful house. An example of the wonderful things that happens to me randomly, haha.. You see, I booked myself a room in someone’s house through Airbnb. Most people probably think I am crazy, actually wanting to stay simple in a locals house instead of staying in a hotel, especially when it’s paid by work, but I really prefer it! And this time I was lucky enough to get the house all to myself, as the owner was on a weekendtrip. How nice of him to let a stranger stay in his house! He had also made me a little “treasure-map” of the best spots on the island cause he knew I am a photographer.
So I spent the weekend on this beautiful island with just my dear camera as company. I drove around and explored all days long, sang along to every song on my phone, stopped to take photos everywhere I could, and I finally enjoyed a white sand beach! I’ve always loved travelling by myself soo much, and I did it for almost 4 years, but now that I’ve tried travelling with him that I love the most, it’s not really the same. Haha, pretty much every time I see something beautiful (like, every 5 minutes) I think; “Ah, I wish Bryan could see this”. Amazing things are just more amazing when shared with someone you love so deeply! But luckily I’ve got these photographs to show him 😉
Well, Sunday afternoon came very quickly as usual, and I had to get back on the highway with destination: Harstad! As you can imagine I was not to keen to leave the island and I started the trip way to late, so by the time I was driving up the sky high mountains at twilight, the road was shining of ice, and there was frost and iced lakes all around me. It was probably my most scary drive ever and I don’t have long nails anymore, but 5(!) hours later I arrived to the hotel in Harstad safe and sound. And what a reward I got! I randomly got one out of the four rooms with balcony on that hotel, and that was such a good luck! Cause as I was standing on my balcony admiring the rising Super fullmoon, I saw something else moving in the sky. Oh yes, Northern lights and fullmoon at the same time! This is very rare, as the intense moonlight usually makes it impossible for our eyes to see the Aurora.
So I was very lucky to watch this and capture it! I was sitting in front of the sea for a long time, just enjoying this interesting Super Fullmoon who rised in Aries. Did you know that it rised with a cosmic shift in energy, which will affect everyone on the planet? I decided that I will embrace this change to bring out some more positive energy in my life. And already the next morning, that’ll say yesterday morning, I woke up with a much more positive spirit. What could have been a hard Monday (I had 6 hours of shooting portraits+group pictures, and then I had to drive to the next destination for 5 hours) ended up being a very magical Monday with three big blessings from Mother Nature! First of all; the sun rised just outside of the room where I was setting up my studio.
Next blessing came when I was driving to Andenes. I had been driving in the shadows of the sky high mountains for hours, and when I finally came out to the coast, the sun was just about to set behind the spectacular mountains of Lofoten! This felt unreal for a sunset/sunrise/sunshine lover as I am!
Then, when I was driving in the dark, super tired and counting down the minutes until arrival, this just happened in front of me! I almost couldn’t believe my eyes! The moon rised with this intense red/orange light! Did anyone else watch it?
When I arrived to Andenes I got welcomed with a warm hug from the girl that I am renting an apartment from through Airbnb! I thought I’d just rent a room since the price was less than a hotelroom, but she’s staying somewhere else so I have this beautiful apartment right in front of a white sand beach all to myself. I’ll show you more from Andenes in the next days, but I just wanna give you a little sneak peak; this was the view from my balcony at sunset tonight! 😉 How lucky am I!
I hope you all had a lovely start of the week ♥♥♥
